I will always vote what I have promised, and always vote the Constitution, as well as I will not vote for one single penny that isn’t paid for, because debt is the monster, debt is what’s going to eat us up and that is why our economy is on the brink.- Ron Paul
The progressives have done it! They have become experts at manipulating the public and getting exactly what they want. Before they were “progressives,” of coarse these selfish fools were statist and monarchist. They are the ones who cried when we left the British monarchy. They’re the ones that begged George Washington to become King of America.
We have a problem in this country. We have nationalized our charity programs so when we need to end them, we’re not met with any thanks for ever having them, we’re met with entitled anger for even considering it.
When you’re living off credit card debt, does it make sense to take in your destitute neighbor? No, it would be irresponsible. But what if you were taking care of your neighbor before you lost all your money in the stock market. What do you say when you go to your neighbor and tell them that you can no longer support them, and they spit in your face? You get the hell out of there and you don’t feel guilty for doing it!
Welcome to Government welfare! Except with government charity you don’t have a choice. And you rarely get to stop giving once you start. But you still get the headache of people complaining that you are no longer giving them your money!
And you still have to listen to Jimmy Kimmel blast you for wanting to keep your money! All these celebrities that act like we’re sending poor people to the gulag if we end Obamacare are doubly offensive. For one, they don’t use Obamacare! So they have no idea how it works. For two, they don’t use insurance at all! That nice cash money discount must be nice!
Instead we’re all stuck in the real world of rising premiums, longer wait times, and higher deductibles! Thanks Obama! And thank you every single shill celebrity that lies in our face.
It is the best of times
Most of the good that comes from passing this pseudo repeal bill is that the Republicans will have done something. The media and their Hollywood allies scream so loudly that they drown out the voices of everyday Americans. That is, except for the American’s they want to be representative of the rest.
The way that government works is that once you give a favor to somebody, you can never ever ever ever take it back. Even if providing that favor to somebody is bankrupting the country.
Seriously people come out the woodworks talking about how they couldn’t afford surgery if it weren’t for Obamacare. And I’m like, I can’t afford surgery with Obamacare! But we all must pay more in taxes and work only part time jobs for you.
This bill isn’t close to perfect. It doesn’t do near enough to save money or lower our taxes. It might not even touch the massive regulations shoved down our throats through Obamacare. But at least it’s a step. It’s the beginning of an unwinding.
At this point bloated government solutions are like crack, and taking us off of this crack all at once might shock our hearts and kill us. Instead we have to get off the junk gradually. Maybe even take fake crack until we’re clean.
At least this legislation would give states far more flexibility to regulate and manage how Obamacare dollars are spent. Honestly, being controlled by some obtuse bureaucrat in Washington is like going to your sea turtle for advice. It just does not work.
Though we’ve been through this drama before and we thought for sure the ObamaCare repeal was dead, Rep. Bill Cassidy swooped in to save the day! The doctor has only been in Congress since 2008, but the man has his hands all over everything health related in Congress. He is a leading critic of Medicaid’s poor health outcomes.
This federalized plan would allow states to repeal ObamaCare regulations, which many of them could then decide to rid themselves of the job killing individual mandate. The states that are more inclined to try free market approaches just might be able to do so.
The critics of the bill on the left, worry that the federal government would be cutting back on its fiscal commitment to health care. To which this girl on the right would be ever so thrilled about!
Some states would probably stop covering pre-existing conditions, but that is just an inevitability that we will all have to face. If you are one of my readers and have a pre-existing condition YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO MY MONEY (but you can email me and ask for it!).
The biggest losers from Graham-Cassidy are likely New York and California, two states with very costly Medicaid rolls. If we can stick it to those smug self righteous idiots in New York and California, well then we just have to do it!
No more discussion! Let it pass!
What’s that? You want to hear Rand Paul’s side of the argument? You want to discuss how the American taxpayer is going to have to settle (for the one MILLIONTH time) for less? Ok I guess we can.
It is the worst of times
Rand Paul is a friend of mine but he is such a negative force when it comes to fixing healthcare. Graham-Cassidy Bill is GREAT! Ends Ocare!- Donald Trump Tweet
What a tough job to be a Paul! And I’m not talking about that blow hard gate keeper Paul Ryan. I’m talking about the son of the often criticized Ron Paul, Rand Paul.
Say what you want about him, but he is usually honest and correct when he details the shortfalls of healthcare bills. He is also one of the few people left in Congress that aren’t war hungry. The only reason I am inclined to bet against Paul is that libertarians are usually so ineffective in getting things done.
It has taken years to make the government this big, it will take years to deconstruct it. We’ll have to start chipping away at it piece by piece while we start educating American people on the perils of government.
Some of the cons of this legislation are concerning. For instance what if a state uses their new found freedom to pass single payer systems? By all accounts states like Illinois and California are just waiting for the opportunity.
Meanwhile, criticisms abound that the bill would not really repeal Obamacare, but would merely kick its administration down to the states while retaining most of its spending.
It also looks like we’re setting ourselves up for a fight later on.
It just looks like the Republicans are taking the money from the Democrat states and giving it to the Republican states. So we’re going to go through year after year of Republicans fighting Democrats over the formula?.- Rand Paul.
Is that even really a concern? Who is more generous than California! They want to open the borders of this country, so they should open the border to their wallets! It’s only fair.
Given the pros and cons, I think we’re left with little choice. ObamaCare is falling apart and something will have to be done. I’ll be damned if we’re going to sit here and pass Bernie Sanders half baked single payer system.
What do you think? Is there any other alternatives? Let me know and I’ll go tell Congress.
