Perhaps working class Americans and young college graduates aren’t the only ones concerned about their jobs.  The only difference between them and Hollywood is that the Hollywood scum deserve it.

Really what did they think was going to happen?  Shill and sell your image as propaganda for corporations/government and the people would never become hip to it?  Please!  The people see clearly who are the liars.  And they are getting sick of it.

It might be better to have, instead of propaganda and special pleading, committees of wise men who would choose our rulers, dictate our conduct, private and public, and decide upon the best types of clothes for us to wear and the best kinds of food for us to eat. But we have chosen the opposite method, that of open competition. We must find a way to make free competition function with reasonable smoothness. To understand the use of celebrities in to today’s propaganda world you have to know of Edward Bernays.  This nephew of Freud engineered the use of selling to the unconscious mind.  He called this “the engineering of consent” and this would give leaders the means to “control and remind the masses according to our will without their knowing about it.”

On April 13, 1917, president Woodrow Wilson set up the Committee for Public Information, or the Creel Commission as it came to be known. The commission was headed by George Creel, a well-known muckraking journalist, the other formal members being the secretaries of war, state and the navy.

With the Creel Commission’s arrival, modern wartime propaganda in the media age was born. Its aim was to turn an America wary of foreign entanglements into a society thirsty for war against Germany.  To the public World War I was fought to bring democracy to Europe (sounds familiar).

It was right after Bernays stint in the Creel commission that he published his book called Propaganda.  In those days the public was innocent to the manipulation they faced, the word didn’t have the nasty connotations that it has today.

His Magnus Opus when convincing a whole generation of women to smoke when he ran huge campaigns for Chesterfield in the 1920s. To overcome “sales resistance” to cigarette smoking among women, Bernays staged a demonstration at the 1929 Easter parade, having fashionable young women flaunt their “torches of freedom.”  So thanks for that Edward, we’re particularly grateful given how he didn’t allow his own wife to smoke.

Edward was clearly a progressive who thought humans had to be manipulated for their own good:

The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, and our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of…. It is they who pull the wires that control the public mind.

Man, progressives and their unconditional love of the “expert.”  Even if we accept that human beings must be steered by some invisible hand, how do we trust that the invisible hand will stay true and not be corrupted by the ruins of power?  It seems to me that if the many must be governed by the few then then why even pretend at a democracy?  Democracy would just be a placebo by which the people are placated.

Give me an honest monarchy any day instead of the sham democracy that progressives love so much.  Progressives are so blinded by there “good intentions” they never learn from their mistakes.  Indeed Mr. Bernays was mortified when he learned that his propaganda methods were used by the Nazis to promote their own war and their own “patriotism.”

The people didn’t like propaganda (which would be further magnified during World War II), so Bernays promoted the term “public relations.”

Celebrity manipulators

There is a reason the Bible says:

So when you give to the needy, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be praised by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their reward. But when you give to the needy do not let your left hand see what your right handis doing so that your giving may be in secret.

Maybe it’s better to give in public then not to give at all, but then again when you do that the person is paying for an image instead of giving to charity.

If there is one purpose of this blog it is to correct the lies that I felt were told me my whole life.  There is no worse feeling than realizing that your heroes are fake, and there is no Santa Clause.  I know it feels good to look at the carefully manufactured image of America’s superstars and want to trust them, but we can’t.  It’s time for us to wake up, these people are as human as the rest of us and just as capable of being manipulated.  This manipulation is intentional.

In the course of human development fit our parents fall from grace (this is a natural artificial projection of our displeasure with our own humanity reflected in the visage of our parents), then it’s our peers and then we’re left with our selves.  Except American’s aren’t replacing their peers and their families with our selves.  We’re replacing it with celebrities and experts.

When companies want to sell a product, they have a celebrity use that product.  When the President wants to sell a policy?  He gathers a group of rock stars and actors to the white house for a photo and dinner, where afterwards they report to their social media stations and tell the public how to feel. It’s better this way for all of us!  Instead of taking all that time to figure out how we feel about healthcare, all we have to do is look at John Legends Twitter and then repeat whatever he says!

Propaganda is everywhere all the time.  Like Lupe Fiasco’s State Run Radio State Run Radio (feat. sELF), we’re being fed a message. Celebrities are the ambassadors to the rest of us peasants giving us our marching orders.  Unfortunately it’s not so simple as a celebrity using a product or wearing specific outfits, their very existence has become a tool for political purposes.

Celebrities of course are not the one creating the message, they are selling their selves out to the highest bidder.  The difference between a prostitute and a celebrity propagandist (cough cough John Legend cough Scarlett Johansson) is the prostitute is aware that she’s a whore.  Let’s take a look at these saint like celebrities devoted to philanthropy and charities.

President Obama invested a lot in selling his pet project to the public, particularly the young public.  In the grand tradition on spending more energy defending your image instead of changing your self, he went right to his propaganda machine- I mean his “public relations” department.

It’s always nice to see Obama with this glossy eyed friends.  It’s even nicer to hear how he has enlisted said friends to sell his horrible program that will screw millions of American’s out of there insurance policy, leave many without insurance completely, and instill terrible bureaucratic rules that further separate the doctor from the patient.  Of course these rich friends of Obama will never ever have to deal with the repercussions of such an awful policy, they don’t even use insurance!  And the clinics and hospitals they go to will never be the bureaucratic hell holes that the rest of America is forced to partake in.

The ex-Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was in talks with the NFL to promote Obamacare (no wonder the people are sick of football). The HHS also reportedly reached out to the NBA.  Nothing screams good healthcare like rich athletes that will never use Obamacare.

I know this is going to hurt some of you, but these celebrities that we admire the most because they care so much for the people is all a carefully crafted image, not even an image they cultivated for themselves.  They hire outside “public relations” companies that specialize in connecting celebrities with pet projects, of course this pet project will blasted to the public and will conveniently raise the popularity of said celebrities.  Maybe even increase their album sales or clothing sales.

Trevor Neilson represents Eva Longoria, John Legend (I really can’t stand this smug shill if you couldn’t tell) and many other stars as president of Global Philanthropy Group. His past clients have reportedly included Shakira and Madonna, and he has close ties to Bono and Bill Gates.  Trevor Neilson is the charity/political consultant to the stars. He makes sure that the right celebrities are pared with the projects.

“I think the White House is very wise to identify partners to help market the Affordable Care Act,” Neilson said when Obama first started reaching out for his celebrity propaganda army.  Of course it would be Neilson himself that created this propaganda army.

Nielson is not new to it he’s true to it.  Trevor is a co-founder and partner at Global Philanthropy Group. He has worked at the highest levels of business, government, and philanthropy. Neilson has served as an advisor to business, government, and philanthropy leaders including Bill Gates, President Bill Clinton (where he worked in the scandalous White House travel  office), Bono, Sir Richard Branson, Howard Buffett, Madonna, and Shakira.

Do you remember when Angelina Jolie was a wild who wore her husband made out with her brother on the red carpet?  Many don’t and that is because Angelina Jolie hired Trevor Neilson to change her image.  He carefully put he in contact with the right people until she was giving speeches at the United Nations and pleading with the public to feed our starving children.  No doubt making sure no child is left hungry is noble, but there is something icky about using someone’s pain to sell your image.

When Jolie gave pictures of her newly adopted son Maddox it came with the requirement that People (which is owned by the same company as TIME) also report on his mother’s humanitarianism.  Nielson is a master at bringing causes to the public eye and with that eye comes public adoration.  It doesn’t matter that Angelina had an affair with a married man, she really does so much for the poor Africans.

Nielson even worked with Richard C. Holbrooke, a former American ambassador to the United Nations who helped broker peace in Bosnia in 1995.  He was an early supporter of Bono and his Africa initiative while working at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in the early 2000s.  Trevor has earned himself the label of “Charity Fixer to the Stars.”  When Brad Pitt found his Make It Right Foundation in 2007, Mr. Neilson helped him devise a strategy to raise money to rebuild homes in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

“Trevor was kind of the first person to say to me, ‘You have enormous reach, you should use it,’ ” said Olivia Wilde, who has been talking with Mr. Neilson about starting a club for members of young Hollywood interested in learning about global issues. Indeed, Mr. Neilson’s project-client roster is broad: schools in Colombia (Shakira) and Haiti (Ben Stiller), domestic education (John Legend), microfinance (Tory Burch). “He is using existing global brands for social change,” said Bobby Shriver, a Kennedy family member who is a partner with Bono on his Africa initiatives.

When celebrities like George Clooney and Don Cheadle, who were getting plaudits for their work in Darfur, were emerging as the new model for the actor/activist, “Trevor saw the power of personality and saw how to leverage it to do good.”

If only we could all be so kind and noble as Trevor and his gang of stars!  Mr. Nielson must be in poverty with how much time he focuses on these charitable projects.  But of course, anyone who mixes with those in Hollywood never has a lack of funding.   His company advises 20 clients, some who pay $150,000 to $200,000 a year for the consulting work offered by the Neilson, his wife, and their staff.

But charity is a good thing right?  Not when your familiar with the dark side of these global charities, not when the countries the foundations enter often are worse off, not when the pet causes are thinly veiled attempts at propaganda.  Look at the ex Mayor of NYC, Michael Bloomberg, who rallied 82 celebrities for this manipulative “public service announcement.”  Sandy Hook was the perfect opportunity to preach to the world how we need gun control.  I’m sure their bodyguards would be the first to give up their guns though right?

Neilson isn’t the only one, it would probably be a safe bet to say that every well beloved celebrity Low-key charity and political consultants, like Margery Tabankin, who works with Barbra Streisand; and Andy Spahn, a former president of the David Geffen Foundation, who has advised Steven Spielberg, are also occasionally part of the entourage.

To add insult to injury the American citizens are paying for this propaganda.  Not only by buying their products, but with our tax dollars as well.   $1.5 billion in taxpayer money goes straight to Hollywood studios. But I suppose it’s for a good cause, we have to pay the people to pay the charities.

It’s not just Hollywood or America that is constantly being bombarded with hidden interest that seek to influence the public from the shadows.  For more than two years, the American development aid organisation USAid has been secretly trying to infiltrate Cuba’s underground hip-hop movement, according to records obtained by the Associated Press.

The idea was to use Cuba’s rappers “to break the information blockade” and build a network of young people seeking “social change” to spark a youth movement against the government of President Raul Castro.

The hip-hop operation was run in Cuba by Serbian contractor Rajko Bozic. His project was inspired by the protest concerts of the student movement that helped undermine former Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic in 2000.

So what is the truth?  If we were to look at Neilson’s client log I bet you’ll find all of them jumped on the Russian collusion conspiracy.  How many of these celebrities are getting political advice from their “advisors” and then regurgitate it back to the masses?  How much of these outrages are manufactured?

I hate being negative so I won’t leave on this note.  American’s are waking up, as the old naive baby boomers fade a new generation is taking their place.  And as that happens Hollywood is losing its vice grip on the public.

Decline of Hollywood

Old heads of Hollywood are warning of the suicide spiral that Hollywood has committed itself to.  George Lucas criticizes what he sees as a move toward brainless blockbusters and sequels. Lucas and Steven Spielberg have previously warned that this shift will lead toward an implosion if more of those big-budget movies start failing.

And it looks like their right.  This year’s North American summer box office revenue is expected to come in at an 11-year low, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s cited figures from comScore.

With 11,873 screens in 1,009 theaters, AMC Entertainment is the single largest theater operator in America and — are you ready for this? — its stock price has collapsed a whopping -45% since Memorial Day. Two other monster chains, Regal and Cinemark, have seen their stocks drop by -28% and -18%, respectively. Even Imax, one of the pillars (along with 3D) of the premium pricing schemes that have kept the box office looking relatively good these past few years, saw a -31% drop in the price of its shares

Paramount faring the worst this year when he compares the top 20 movies from that studio compared to its top 20 the year prior. On those terms, he estimates a 27 percent decline year-over-year.  Disney is next with a 23 percent decline, followed by Twentieth Century Fox with a 17 percent drop then Sony with a 2 percent fall. Warner Bros. and Universal should rise 7 percent and 9 percent, respectively, while Lionsgate will shoot up 24 percent.

People are sick of seeing the same movies by the same gatekeepers.  Their trust has been completely betrayed by celebrities that have used them has consumer husks with no purpose other than the dollar they can contribute.  Celebrities spend more time playing world savior than actually working on their craft.

Clearly, it breaks down on two fronts. In Britain they take their training seriously while in the States we’re going through a sort of social media image conscious thing rather than formal training. Many actors are getting caught up in this image thing which is going on to affect their range.-Michael Douglas

And it’s not just Hollywood!  Take a look at the music industry, they are struggling to sell music and bring in the revenue of their glory days.

At the dawn of Apple Music in July of last year, Taylor Swift pulled her music based on a high-profile disagreement over payment.  Adele flatly refused to license Apple Music and Spotify.

The people are putting their money where there hearts are, and they’re hearts are no longer with the fake and hypocritical starts that Hollywood churns out and abuses for propaganda purposes.  There are no more heroes America.  At least not on the screen and not in our music.  The new dawn of heroes will be you and me and the people with the courage to call out the truth when they see it.

 

P.S Don’t count on the FCC to help with any of this.  A lot of folks are shaking their heads after learning that FCC commissioner Meredith Attwell Baker is leaving her post to take a lobbying job at Comcast just a few months after she voted to approve Comcast’s massive purchase of NBC Universal.
