De Blasio 1 of 4 bad Mayors

4 Mayors With Not Enough to Do

Here is a list of Mayors with too much time on their hands.  Lucky for us citizens, each incumbent is not safe from the vultures.  There is no coincidence that each one of these cities are home to notorious political machines long out of touch with the will of the people.

  1. Bill De Blasio, NYC

Rudi Giuliani is called the last good Mayor NYC has seen, which doesn’t say much since the only Mayor since then was Michael Bloomberg.  Before Bill was mayor he was a New York City Council member, representing the 39th district in Brooklyn.  He was elected Mayor by a landslide in 2013 and has been futilely leading the city since.

Why is he on this list?  Because he left his city to jetset to Germany for the G-20 Summit to join the left-wing protests.  If that doesn’t describe a useless mayor I don’t know what else does?  To make matters worse, this was right after a police officer was shot in the back of the head while on duty.  Yikes, you’d think a politician with such a bad relationship with the police force would try harder.  Oh well, that is just good ol’ De Blasio, promote one awful police, and implement the other equally awful policy.

  1. Rahm Emanuel, Chicago

This one cuts close to home.  Rahm held Illinois’s 5th congressional district from 2003 to 2009.  He simultaneously held two Democratic leadership positions, serving as the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and as the chair of the House Democratic Caucus.  He quit Illinois politics for a year to become Barrack Obama’s White House chief of staff but came back as Mayor of Chicago in 2011.

Why is he on this list?  Chicago is an openly corrupt city in an openly corrupt state, both of which are failing rapidly.  Yet, Rahm is more concerned with fighting Tump on immigration.  Chicago police are struggling in their quest for reform, with Federal oversight a growing solution. Especially since Independence day brought another bloody year.

What can’t be said about the struggles facing Chicago?  They are hemorrhaging debt and facing ever increasing taxes in their effort to sink Illinois along with the city.  I’ll just leave you with Rahm’s plan to require students to provide evidence that they have either acceptance to college or a gap-year program, a trade apprenticeship, military enlistment or a job offer.  You can’t make this stuff up!

  1. Mitch Landrieu, New Orleans

This one is interesting, the city of New Orleans are set to begin the election process for Mayor.  (Here is a list of the candidates.).  Landrieu is the son of a former New Orleans mayor and the brother of the former U.S. Senator from Louisiana.  Landrieu himself was lieutenant governor of Louisiana until h was elected Mayor of New Orleans in 2010.  A man in bed with politics since before he was born.

Why is he on this list?  Because he likes to attack Trump, and that’s pathetic.  This attack from his seat as president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.  Don’t ask me why they have this, seems like more of attempt to pull national political power than talk to each other and give advice.  Most of the Mayors in this conference spend way to much of their time devoted to national issues.  While some mayors in this conference have healthy flourishing cities,  New Orleans is not one of them.

The NOPD has long been the face of corrupt police forces everywhere.  Though in recent years there has at least been an attempt to gain positive PR if not actual reform.  New Orleans has a bad transit system, stratified economics, and has been trying to rebuild from Hurricane Katrina since 2005.  And please gag me with a spoon, his name is being floated as a possible nominee for the 2020 Presidential election.  I guess I should have predicted this since he’s forcing national attention by removing Confederate monuments (can you say political posturing anyone?).

  1. Eric Garcetti, Los Angeles

Nobody is surprised to find Garcetti here, if only because it’s Los Angeles (yuck).  Garcetti’s career starts as a member of the Los Angeles City Council, before that he was a visiting instructor of International Affairs at the University of Southern California.  In 2013 he became the Mayor of Los Angeles and was re-elected in 2017.  So another career politician with little real world experience outside of academia.  Par the corse for these hacks.

Why is he on this list?  Call me petty for this one but this man flew to Berlin on Independence Day to celebrate Los Angeles’ sister city status with Berlin.  This may make Los Angeles more of a joke than him, but I feel sorry for the residents of this city.  They have a rampant homeless problem, slow economic growth, a high percentage of illegal immigrants, and a huge gang problem. So pretty much the same issues every other city is faced with in this list.

If you want pathetic politicians look no further than these grand standing mayors.   Hopefully each machine can be smashed and broken so the people have a chance to elect someone who actually cares enough about their city and not about propelling themselves tino national politics.  We can hope, though I wouldn’t waste my breath.

P.S Does anybody ever why cities with the worst machines have the biggest Unions? 🤔  And why are so many of them obsessed with Germany?
